CNC Equipment Reliability Technician
About Geremarie
At Geremarie in Lake Zurich, IL, advanced automation meets hands-on craftsmanship. We engineer and machine complex aluminum parts for leading marine and recreation brands, achieving tight tolerances, rapid lead times, and consistent quality. As part of Patrick Industries, we’re connected to a broader network that champions quality, innovation, and forward-thinking operations—fueling our continual drive to elevate technology, refine processes, and invest in our people.
If you’re the kind of person who shows up, owns outcomes, and isn’t afraid to get your hands dirty, you’ll thrive here.
A Day in This Role
You arrive to a clean, organized shop and check overnight handoff notes. An alarm on a CNC pops up—within minutes you’re at the machine, reading error codes, tracing the fault through diagrams and manuals, and isolating whether it’s mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic. A worn spindle belt and a failing proximity sensor? You’ve got both on hand. You swap parts, verify alignment, reset parameters, and bring the machine back online—downtime minimized.
Next, you dive into scheduled preventive maintenance: inspecting lubrication systems, validating spindle health, checking axis alignment, servicing coolant and chip conveyors, and replacing filters and way covers as needed. While working, you document findings, capture parts usage, and log corrective actions. You spot early indicators of wear and contamination and flag a recommendation to tweak PM intervals for improved CNC reliability.
Throughout the shift, you partner with Operators, Leads, and Supervisors to understand performance concerns, provide mechanical guidance to other Maintenance Technicians, and participate in root-cause analysis on recurring failures. Between calls, you support continuous improvement efforts—projects that drive uptime, tool life, and overall equipment reliability. You keep a safety-first mindset, follow Lockout/Tagout, wear required PPE, and maintain a tidy work area. Before heading out, you enter work orders and PM updates in the maintenance system and brief the Maintenance Director on status, risks, and next steps—then hand off crisp notes to the next shift.
