Back of House Staff

Position Overview
The Back of House Team Member plays a key role in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen. This position supports the chef and kitchen staff by assisting with food preparation, dishwashing, kitchen cleanliness, and general kitchen operations. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

Dishwashing & Sanitation

• Wash dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans using dishwashing equipment or by hand

• Maintain a clean and organized dish station throughout the shift

• Properly store cleaned dishes and kitchen equipment

• Take out trash and recycling as needed

• Follow all sanitation and health department guidelines

Food Prep

• Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and preparing simple menu items

• Label and store food items according to kitchen standards

• Maintain proper food safety and handling practices

• Assist with stocking and organizing prep stations

Kitchen Support

• Support chefs and line cooks during service to ensure smooth kitchen operations

• Help receive and organize deliveries and kitchen inventory

• Maintain cleanliness of prep areas, kitchen equipment, floors, and storage areas

• Assist with closing duties including cleaning, restocking, and organizing the kitchen

• Communicate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or restaurant experience preferred but not required

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Strong attention to cleanliness and organization

• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Work Environment
This position operates in a busy restaurant kitchen environment that may include exposure to heat, sharp tools, and loud noise. Team members must follow all safety and sanitation guidelines.
