System Analyst

Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their Business Systems Analyst with an application and operational support focus! This is a 6+ month contract opportunity with the potential to extend or convert to FTE and will be hybrid /on site in Chicago, IL. This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services. No C2C or subcontracting arrangements will be considered.

Position Overview:

This role has an Application & Operational Support Focus. We are seeking a hands-on Business Systems Analyst to support and enhance enterprise financial and operational applications.

This role sits at the intersection of business and technology, partnering closely with operational stakeholders while collaborating with technical teams to improve system performance, usability, and long-term scalability. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys owning applications, engaging directly with end users, and driving meaningful enhancements in a complex enterprise environment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Business Partnership & Requirements Management

• Partner with Finance, FP&A, Accounting, HR, Risk, and Audit teams to understand business processes and system needs.
• Facilitate requirements gathering sessions and document current-state and future-state workflows.
• Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Act as the primary functional bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure shared understanding.

Application Support & Enhancements

• Support ongoing maintenance and optimization of enterprise systems, including EPM/financial planning platforms and internally developed applications.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and system efficiencies.
• Document functional specifications for system enhancements, integrations, and application updates.

Agile Delivery & Backlog Management

• Manage and refine application backlogs using Azure DevOps (ADO).
• Write detailed user stories with acceptance criteria that are development-ready.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives.
• Assist in release planning, prioritization, and cross-functional coordination.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Develop and execute functional test plans for enhancements, upgrades, and bug fixes.
• Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) , including stakeholder communication and sign-off.
• Validate system changes in non-production environments prior to production deployment.
• Troubleshoot issues and support defect resolution in partnership with technical teams.

Change Management & Documentation

• Develop clear process documentation and user training materials for system updates.
• Support business users through change adoption and post-implementation stabilization.
• Ensure proper documentation standards are maintained for requirements and deliverables.

What You'll Need to Have:

• 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Finance/FP&A Systems Analyst.
• Basic SQL or data querying experience for analysis and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications, particularly financial planning, reporting, or operational systems.
• Experience using tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO), SAP BPC, Anaplan, Microsoft Office, or similar platforms.
• Experience in large, complex, or operationally intensive industries.
• Working knowledge of financial concepts including budgeting, forecasting, consolidations, and variance analysis.
• Hands-on experience with requirements documentation, backlog grooming, and functional testing.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business requirements into functional system solutions.
• Clear communication skills with both business and technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
• Ability to write structured user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
• Understanding of system change management practices and release validation processes.

Preferred Skills / Experience

• Experience supporting custom-built or internally developed applications.
• Exposure to system integrations, data mapping, ETL processes, or APIs.
• Familiarity with tools such as Figma for process mapping or functional mockups.
• ITIL certification or exposure to IT service management practices.

Pay Range: $50-55/hr
