Duties and Responsibilities

Salary Range: $62,000 – $85,000

Loyola University Chicago is seeking an Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses on literature and critical theory; Conduct research on Native American literature; Publish scholarship; Participate in scholarly conferences; Perform professional service (e.g., reviewing); Advise students; Serve on PhD examination and dissertation committees; Serve on departmental committees. Up to 15% domestic and international travel required. Up to 30% remote work allowed.

Qualifications

PhD degree in English Language and Literature or related field plus 1 year related experience. Prior experience must include: Curriculum development for North American Indigenous literature and treaty histories; Transcribe two literary manuscripts, which were unpublished materials from archives; Research Indigenous Literatures and methodologies from Canada and the United States; Teach Indigenous Literature from Canada; Teach Indigenous Studies from Canada.

Full time: $62,000.00 – $85,000.00/year

Additional Salary Information

This salary range is for a nine-month academic appointment. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree; training; field or discipline; budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs. Salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances.
