This position serves as a GenTax Computer Programming Analyst, providing a full range of Information Technology (IT) applications services for DoIT/IDoR. In this role you will coordinate and conduct difficult and specialized application development for systems and/or sub-systems of average complexity associated with the Revenue Accounting & Transaction Section in the GenTax Integrated Tax System. In addition, you will serve as project coordinator for standard projects including small/medium size hardware/software deployments and installations. - Under general direction, serves as a GenTax Computer Programming Analyst for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDoR) performing difficult and specialized professional work in Information Technology (IT) applications services.
- Conducts comprehensive studies and analyses of client needs and objectives and conducts feasibility studies for system conversions and enhancements.
- Serves as a project coordinator for standard projects including small/medium size hardware/software deployments and installations.
- Assists higher level analysts with scheduled and remedial maintenance to application services.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.

- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience in application services or a directly related Information Technology field.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing application code using C#, VB.Net, Microsoft SQL, and Microsoft Visual Studio within an enterprise environment.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience with developing or maintaining applications in GenTax supporting revenue accounting or transaction management operations.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience coordinating projects or technical initiatives, including task assignment, project tracking, and delivery of system components to meet established objectives.
- One (1) year of professional experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing application code using C#, VB.Net, Microsoft SQL, and Microsoft Visual Studio within an enterprise environment.
- One (1) year of professional experience developing or maintaining applications in GenTax or a comparable integrated tax processing system supporting revenue accounting or transaction management operations.
- One (1) year of professional experience coordinating projects or technical initiatives, including task assignment, project tracking, and delivery of system components to meet established objectives.
- One (1) year of professional experience performing SQL development, including writing, optimizing, and debugging queries, stored procedures, and scripts to support application functionality and reporting.
- Ability to lead or coordinate the activities of technical staff to achieve project deliverables and ensure quality outcomes.
- Working knowledge of the methods, procedures, and techniques of conducting feasibility studies for system conversions and enhancements.
- Ability to analyze data logically, troubleshoot application issues, and exercise sound judgment in defining and resolving operational or procedural problems.
- Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and others.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills to clearly present technical concepts, system documentation, and project status information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Requires the ability to verify identity.

- Requires the ability to travel in performance of duties.
- Requires ability to work outside of normal business hours to meet deadlines.

- Requires ability to use agency-supplied equipment (cell phone, laptop, etc.).
- Requires ability to pass a tax compliance check.
- Requires the ability to lift and carry objects or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. This is considered light work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(b)). Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
