Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown Unit
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
• Start Date: September 22, 2025
• End Date: December 20, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2000-$2050

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum of 1 year recent experience as a Cardiac Stepdown RN or in an acute care nursing job
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) charting experience required
• Trauma 1 experience required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and independent judgment skills
• Multicultural sensitivity and effective communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browser)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients using the nursing process
• Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Implement and adjust care plans based on patient needs and ongoing evaluation
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EMR
• Assess IV sites every 4 hours and initiate new IVs per hospital policy
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition or status
• Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and reporting hazards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback
• Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development opportunities
