Job Title: Material Handler / Forklift Operator

Location: Vernon Hills, IL
Shifts Available:

• 1st Shift: 5:30 AM – 1:30 PM (3 openings)
• 2nd Shift: 1:30PM - 10:00PM (2 openings)

Pay Rate: $19–$23/hour (based on forklift experience)

Position Summary:

The Material Handler supports the Distribution Center in shipping, receiving, packaging, and returns. This role involves general warehouse duties and forklift operation. Candidates must be flexible, reliable, and committed to producing quality work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general warehouse tasks including loading, unloading, sorting, and organizing materials
• Pick and pack parts using shop order pick tags or RF handheld devices
• Support shop unit builds and Kan-Ban systems
• Transfer stock physically and electronically using RF guns or computer systems
• Operate forklifts including Cherry Picker, Reach Truck, Sit-Down, Wav, Walkie Rider, and Man-Up
• Stage and load freight according to carrier instructions
• Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum 6 months of forklift experience preferred; slightly less may be considered
• Must have experience in at least one of the following forklift combinations:
• Cherry Picker & Sit-Down
• Reach Truck & Sit-Down
• Cherry Picker & Reach Truck
• Comfortable working at heights
• Previous distribution/warehouse experience
• Basic PC skills required (e.g., navigating screens, checking inventory)
