Seeking a CNC Programmer for a contract-to-hire opportunity on the north side of Chicago. Our client has machined products for a wide range of industries for almost 100 years.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop new machining processes to produce new parts or parts that have yet to be produced on the CNC equipment. Review part prints to identify tooling and fixture needs, developing new fixtures or altering existing fixtures as needed. Complete the initial setup and troubleshoot the new process
• Set up and install the tooling necessary for parts production as directed by the Machining Team Leader. This involves obtaining tooling from the tool storage area, installing any of the special production machines in the prescribed manner, and making adjustments to produce parts within stated manufacturing tolerances
• Check first piece dimensions after set-up to assure conformance with engineering prints and quality standards. Use a variety of measuring instruments, i.e., micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, plug and ring gages, etc
• Advise management of spare parts required for repairs to equipment and tooling. Perform simple repairs to equipment as needed
• Responsible for general housekeeping in his/her immediate area of responsibility
• Assure strict adherence to company safety standards
• Collects, records, and maintains accurate CNC programs and other production-related information and/or data as required

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 - 3 years of machine shop CNC programming experience in a job shop or production environment
• Our client utilizes a variety of Vertical or Lathe centers as well as Bar Feed Lathes with live tooling (Mazak, HAAS, Citizen
• Must be experienced with ongoing set-ups and helping manage in-process inspections
