Manager environmental monitoring department of environmental
Manage and review the work and staff related to maintaining and operating a County-wide air monitoring network to accomplish plans and results. Interacts with enforcement/inspection division managers, staff, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials, and municipal officials. Coordinate air quality information and provide status updates to leadership. Provide expertise relative to the County's business procedures such as purchasing new equipment in conjunction with new technologies in the air monitoring field. Approve work projects and staff assignments in accordance with priorities established by leadership. LOCATION : Maywood Courthous e, 1500 S. Maybrook Drive. This is an Actively Recruited, AT WILL position.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemistry, Enviromental Science,
or a directly related field AND
- Five (5) years in environment, sustainability, or directly related experience is required.
- Three (3) years of prior supervisory experience is required.

- Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
- Knowledge of air monitoring technologies and use of standard equipment used in air monitoring.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations of County, State, and Federal environmental protection laws.
- Skill in analyzing divisional operation reports for program effectiveness and budget expenditure.
- Ability to plan and develop methods and procedures for implementing new air monitoring programs.
- Ability to manage professional and/or skilled support staff on a day-to-day basis.
- Ability to lead within the established objectives and make decisions regarding daily priorities and the application of technical/business processes for a work group or segment of a department.
- Ability to set overall direction and hold staff accountable for accomplishing work objectives by fostering positive relationships between employees,
leadership, and stakeholders.
- Ability to use organizational and/or department objectives and goals to identify processes by which to meet those goals.

The County has a hybrid work environment which allows employees telecommuting and flexible scheduling options.
- This position requires successful completion of post-offer tests, which may include a background check, drug screen and medical examination.
