Payroll Specialist (Chicago)
Lucas James Talent Partners is excited to be partnering with a long-standing, mission-driven organization in the nonprofit/benefits administration space on a Payroll Specialist search in Chicago. This is a hybrid opportunity (Office located near O'hare/Rosemont) offering strong stability, meaningful work, and one of the most competitive benefits packages in the market.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning payroll end-to-end while also getting involved in process improvement, systems, and reporting.
What you’ll be doing:
- Process weekly payroll for both union and non-union employees
- Ensure compliance with CBAs, wage & hour laws, and payroll regulations
- Manage employee lifecycle payroll changes (hires, terms, promotions, etc.)
- Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Total Rewards
- Support audits, reporting, and help drive HRIS/process improvements
What we’re looking for:
- 3+ years of payroll experience (union experience is a big plus)
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and regulations
- MUST HAVE Experience working with HRIS System - Workday
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
Compensation & Benefits:
- $65K–$85K base salary (depending on experience)
