Staff Accountant

LaSalle Network has partnered with a supply chain solutions company based in Chicago’s vibrant Fulton Market neighborhood to hire a Staff Accountant . Our client partners with companies across industries to optimize logistics, distribution, and operational efficiency through innovative, data-driven solutions. Position Overview

They are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to join their finance team on a 6-month contract to provide maternity leave coverage. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, and help maintain strong internal controls during a critical transition period. This is a small team so they are looking for an accountant who can work independently and has had to handle a variety of responsibilities within accounting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Reconcile bank statements, balance sheet accounts, and sub-ledgers
• Support accounts payable by processing freight invoices
• Assist in preparing financial statements and internal reports
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
• Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies
• Support audits and provide documentation as required
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Work Environment & Benefits

• Hybrid work model, 4 days onsite and 1 day remote
• Competitive hourly pay of $30-40/hr
