Position Overview

As a Prep Cook at Postcard, your role is to support the guest experience by preparing ingredients and assembling dishes. You’ll ensure everything is ready for service, maintain cleanliness and organization, and follow food safety standards. This role requires someone who can work efficiently in a small space and help keep the flow of service smooth.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare ingredients for daily service, including washing, chopping, slicing, measuring, and portioning in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.

• Assemble and plate menu items consistently according to Postcard’s recipes, presentation guidelines, and quality control procedures.

• Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized kitchen workspace, following local health department regulations and company hygiene protocols.

• Support kitchen operations during peak periods by working efficiently and communicating clearly with the back-of-house and front-of-house teams.

• Assist with receiving deliveries, rotating stock, labeling ingredients, and maintaining accurate inventory counts in accordance with FIFO practices.

• Contribute to a respectful, collaborative, and harassment-free team environment, following all company policies, including anti-discrimination and workplace safety guidelines.
• Fulfill physical requirements of the role, including standing for extended periods, and participating in opening/closing procedures and light janitorial tasks as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• 2-3+ years of experience in kitchens or food prep (cafés or independent restaurants a plus)

• A solid understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, small-team environment

• Strong attention to detail and a good sense of timing in food prep and service

• A positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to support the greater team

• Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays

• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs

• Food Handler Certification (required)
