Position Announcement

Instructor of Saxophone and Jazz Studies

The Eastern Illinois University Department of Music invites applications

for Instructor of Music Saxophone and Jazz Studies (full-time, non-tenure-track, with a renewable 3-year appointment), beginning in August 2026.

Responsibilities: Teach applied saxophone, including classical and

jazz styles. Other duties may include teaching jazz courses to music majors and non-music majors, directing a jazz ensemble, and/or coaching a jazz combo. Recruit students for an established, comprehensive undergraduate and graduate music program.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a Master\'s Degree in Music,

with a Doctorate in Music or equivalent professional experience preferred. Must be an accomplished musician and teacher, with preference given to candidates with collegiate teaching experience with demonstrable student success. An engaging teaching manner and outstanding interpersonal skills for recruitment and collaboration are essential.
