Summary
The Account Executive – SLED Illinois is responsible for driving growth in SDI’s state and local government and education market across Illinois. This role will dedicate 80% of time to expanding business within existing SDI accounts by uncovering new buying centers and solution opportunities, while the remaining 20% of time will focus on net-new logo acquisition.
The successful candidate will bring proven experience selling technical IT services and solutions such as ServiceNow, managed services, data platforms, and AI-driven technologies. This individual must understand the Illinois SLED procurement landscape, have existing relationships with senior decision-makers, and demonstrate consultative selling expertise.

- A Competitive Salary range: $150,000 - $190,000/year plus Commission
- Base salary may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonuses or commissions.

Responsibilities
- Prospect within existing SDI accounts (80%) to identify new buying centers and expand wallet share across services such as ServiceNow, IT managed services, data, and AI.
- Generate net-new opportunities (20%) within state agencies, municipalities, counties, K-12, and higher education institutions in Illinois.
- Identify, manage, and open contract vehicles and strategic partnerships to enable SDI to take advantage of both RFP and non-RFP opportunities.
- Build trusted relationships with client executives and program leaders to uncover business challenges and align SDI’s offerings.
- Develop and execute account plans, pursuit strategies, and capture plans that drive revenue growth.
- Partner with SDI’s solutions and delivery teams to shape proposals that address SLED-specific needs and compliance requirements.
- Manage full sales cycle, from lead generation through negotiation, contracting, and service initiation.
- Represent SDI at regional industry events, government IT associations, and partner forums.
- Consistently meet or exceed assigned sales quotas.
Requirements
- 7+ years of enterprise IT services or solutions sales experience, with a strong emphasis on SLED accounts.
- Proven success driving account growth and uncovering new buying centers within existing customers.
- Demonstrated experience selling solutions such as ServiceNow, IT managed services, data analytics, or AI-driven platforms.
- Understanding of Illinois state, local, and education procurement processes and contracting vehicles.
- Strong ability to influence senior decision-makers and manage long, complex sales cycles.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree.
Additional Requirements Desired
- Established network of executive relationships across Illinois SLED.
- Familiarity with public-sector compliance and funding mechanisms.
- Experience in public-facing thought leadership (speaking, writing, webinars).
- Prior experience at a systems integrator, consulting firm, or IT services provider focused on the public sector.
