Financial Systems Manager

How you'll make an impactThe Financial Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing the Financial Systems team and managing all aspects of divisional financial systems testing, integration, support, and reporting. This role will provide strategic leadership, ensure operational excellence, and drive process improvements to support the organization’s financial systems. The Financial Systems Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor team members, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Essential Functions
As the Financial Systems Manager, you will:
- Provide strategic oversight and leadership for the testing and conversion of accounting data from branch agency management systems to central divisional systems, ensuring data accuracy and reconciliation.
- Manage the planning, testing, and implementation of agency management system upgrades, production maintenance, and new functionality.
- Lead the resolution of production issues, ensuring timely and effective support for agency management system accounting processes and users.
- Establish and maintain prioritization frameworks for production support issues, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with internal and external development teams to implement and optimize system functionality, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Develop and execute training programs and communication strategies for finance and accounting users on new system functionality and reporting tools.
- Oversee the development, testing, and maintenance of finance and accounting reports in agency management systems and ancillary reporting systems.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation for accounting system procedures, testing protocols, and system processes.
- Ensure the organization and compliance of all electronic files and documentation for the accounting center.
- Lead and manage various projects, audits, and initiatives to support organizational objectives.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the Financial Systems team, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance evaluations to team members.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Act as a key liaison between the Financial Systems team, Accounting Center, and Divisional Finance and Operations teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve team efficiency, productivity, and overall performance.
- Communicate processes, procedures, and updates to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the effectiveness of financial systems and team operations.
Other Functions
- Contribute to the development of departmental goals and strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Review and implement written procedures for all processes within the department.
- Provide guidance and support to team members on complex issues and escalations.
- Act as a subject matter expert for financial systems, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and organization.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree (Accounting/Finance)
- Minimum of 8 years general accounting experience and/or minimum 6 years of insurance brokerage accounting experience required.
- Strong accounting process knowledge and understanding of G.A.A.P.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel Skills including advanced formula usage.
Preferred:
- Minimum 6 years supervisory experience preferred.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or Business Administration.
- Experience managing large-scale financial system implementations or upgrades.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving process improvements.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Working Conditions
- Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet individual, team, and department goals, including month-end closings and system conversions.
- Flexibility to work non-core hours, including evenings and weekends, for scheduled maintenance, system upgrades, or conversions.
- Occasional travel may be required to support team initiatives, attend training sessions, or collaborate with other departments.

The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
