SUMMARY
The Buyer is responsible for acquiring a mixture of direct and indirect materials, supplies and services and placing purchase orders for goods that have standard costs and quoted discounts already in place. Coordinates purchasing activities with other departments to maintain inventory at planned levels. Reviews opportunities for new supply sources and suitability of materials offered. Typically, responsible for approximately $5 to $10 million in material purchases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Identifies Suppliers and understands supplier capabilities and criteria for procurement.
- Purchases a mixture of direct and indirect products and services.
- Completes data entry of purchase orders.
- Compiles data for records and reports.
- Reviews purchase requisitions.
- Confers with Vendors to obtain product or service information including price availability and delivery schedules.
- Prepares purchase orders and bid requests.
- Contacts Vendors to find status of orders.
- Contacts vendors regarding discrepancies with quantity and quality.
- Interfaces with all departments to resolve problems and issues with purchased items.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Maintains and develops the inventory tracking system.
- Conforms to environmental management system requirements.
EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 2-5 years’ experience in Purchasing, preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of HVAC components and products.
- Excellent computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint).
- Critical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Occasional domestic and/or international travel required.
The budgeted range for this role is $50K - $70K USD annually. The range provided is a good faith estimate representative of the desired level of experience for the position. Bergstrom Inc. considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
