Lead Software Engineer - eCommerce - Remote

We're seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to join our dynamic Digital and Web team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in shaping our customer-facing eCommerce websites and applications, leading the charge on key technology initiatives, and utilizing cutting-edge digital, cloud, and integration technologies. You will work alongside talented internal and external development teams to build scalable, secure, and high-performance applications that will directly impact the user experience and business success. This role requires regular in-office presence in our Naperville, IL office (typically Tuesday to Thursday), with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of complex Full Stack applications, ensuring they are scalable, high-performing, and secure.
Serve as a hands-on technical lead, providing guidance to both internal and external development teams.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our portfolio of applications and services.
Stay ahead of emerging technology trends, particularly in SaaS, cloud computing, and DevOps, to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
Drive strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver business value.
Diagnose and resolve complex software issues, providing sustainable technical solutions.
Champion API-centric development, integrating with mid-office applications and external partners.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management to ensure project success.
Follow best practices and software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles to maintain consistent and reliable software.
Manage and maintain eCommerce applications, ensuring their stability, security, and user satisfaction.
Design high-availability applications with multi-tier cloud architecture.
Ensure seamless integration with third-party services and APIs.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation.
Conduct thorough testing to ensure the quality of applications and resolve any issues identified.
Implement robust security measures to protect customer data and transactions.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture, APIs, and workflows.
Regularly monitor system performance and optimize application responsiveness.
Work with QA teams to ensure high-quality applications and address any issues swiftly. Qualifications Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in designing and developing complex Full Stack applications.
Expertise in managing eCommerce applications and websites.
Strong experience with CMS, commerce platforms, and headless architecture concepts.
Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python (Django, Flask), and messaging systems like RabbitMQ and Kafka.
Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of cloud technologies, especially AWS.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitOps, Jenkins, Maven, and JIRA.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, and a preference for hands-on database development.
Experience with the Vtex eCommerce platform and Nosto (eCommerce personalization) is a plus.
