Position Overview
As a Payroll Representative for the Human Resources Division, under the office of the Director, calculates and inputs overtime, shift differential, inconvenience pay, and other allowances per labor contract. Ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements, Fair Labor Standards Act, Pay Plan or Schedule and Personnel Rules. Operated in an environment with fixed deadlines and the ability to organize and track a large intact of work through email correspondence. Verifies appropriation of monies are available to over payroll transactions. Reviews entries made to appropriations. Identifies delinquencies, deficiencies, and discrepancies and resolves for corrective action. Responsible for name changes, address changes, federal /state withholding changes, insurance and union deductions, direct deposit, military leave and differential payments. Coordinates with IT Payroll Support Team on test payroll runs, reviewing audit trails and recommends procedures for problem solving. Ensures deadlines and documents are submitted to the payroll office timely.

Essential Functions
- Serves as a Payroll Representative for the Illinois State Police (ISP) Payroll Office in Human Resources.
- Analyzes all payroll information while verifying detailed information for correct and accurate processing to eliminate overpayments and underpayments.
- Enters data into the payroll system and verifies payroll tests are completed.
- Payroll liaison to all groups affected by the process and payment of an ISP payroll.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers one (1) year experience processing payroll.
- Prefers one (1) year of experience working with a payroll system calculating overtime, back pay, military leave, differentials, allowances, and supplemental pay.
- Prefers one (1) year of experience using the Personnel Code, Rules, Position Classification Plan, Pay Plan, Collective Bargaining contracts, departmental policies, and procedures.
- Prefers one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Prefers one (1) year of experience of being a liaison with other divisions, employees, or executives.
