The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Software Engineer with a deep understanding of Golang, distributed backend systems, and PostgreSQL. To be right for this role, you should be a “manager of one” who excels both individually and on a team. This role involves architecture, backend Go development, and honing the integrity and performance of a PostgreSQL database where Go services are not the only clients. And because we’re a fully remote team, you should be an excellent writer and asynchronous communicator.
As a senior member of our engineering team, you will have the opportunity to build performant, reliable backend systems, contribute to architectural discussions, and deliver features that matter.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing and scaling production-grade Go applications, building microservices and APIs, and tuning systems for high performance and reliability.
This position is fully remote (USA only).
The Skillset
3+ years of PostgreSQL experience (querying, schema design, and performance tuning)
3+ years of database architecture experience
8+ years of backend development experience, including at least 4+ years using Go in production
Building scalable, high-performance Go microservices
Proficiency with message queues, pub/sub systems, or event-driven architectures
Deep knowledge of Go internals and concurrency patterns (goroutines, channels, sync primitives)
Expertise in profiling and optimizing Go applications for latency and throughput
Understanding of Go memory management, profiling, and performance optimization.
Designing REST and gRPC APIs consumed by multiple clients and services
Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana)
Experience in CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Support platform improvements and scalability projects
Lead a database and service performance optimization effort
Act as a technical lead for a mid-sized Go microservice project
Salary & Equity
In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $171,000 and $200,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.

At Flock Safety, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. The range above is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.
