Mid-Iowa Grain Inspection, Inc. is a USDA/FGIS Officially Designated Grain Inspection & Weighing Agency, proudly serving clients across Iowa, Illinois, and Minnesota. We’re known for delivering accurate and professional grain inspection and testing services — and we’re looking for someone like you to help us continue that mission.

What You’ll Do

As a Grain Inspection Technician , you’ll play an important role in keeping our food supply safe and high-quality. You’ll work both in the lab and out in the field, collecting and testing grain samples to ensure they meet USDA/FGIS standards.

Your day-to-day work as Grain Technician will include:

• Inspecting and testing grain samples for moisture, weight, and quality.
• Collecting official grain samples from trucks, railcars, and other carriers using approved methods.
• Safely climbing ladders, barges, and railcars to collect samples.
• Recording and maintaining accurate test data.
• Keeping work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Supporting general labor and team tasks as needed.
• Providing friendly, professional service to clients.

Additional Expectations

• Employees are expected to work toward becoming a USDA/FGIS Licensed Grain Inspector within a reasonable timeframe. This role is intended to grow beyond sampling or technician-only duties.
• This position requires regular travel. While team members may report to a specific manager or location, they are expected to support multiple customer sites and Mid-Iowa Grain Inspection offices throughout our service territory as needed.
• Flexibility and willingness to work where needed are essential to supporting our customers and operations.

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Mechanical aptitude or experience working with equipment is a plus.
• Great attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn — training will be provided!

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
