The Director of People & Culture is a strategic leader responsible for aligning people practices with the mission, values, and vision of Tapestry 360 Health. This role not only oversees the HR function but also acts as a cultural steward, ensuring a respectful, equitable, and empowering work environment. The Director collaborates with senior leadership to shape and sustain a workplace culture grounded in belonging, compassion, accountability, and excellence. Additionally, this role is pivotal in managing the execution of new initiatives and overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure optimal performance and alignment with organizational directives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic HR Leadership: Develop and implement people strategies that align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals. Lead with an emphasis on shared purpose, employee well-being, and organizational integrity.
  • Culture Stewardship: Act as a role model and champion of Tapestry 360 Health’s values. Design and support initiatives that promote trust, transparency, equity, and belonging across all levels of the organization.
  • Performance Management: Develop and maintain a robust performance management system that promotes accountability, learning, and continuous improvement. Equip managers with the tools to provide meaningful feedback and coaching grounded in respect and clarity.
  • Talent Acquisition & Retention: Lead inclusive recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes that attract and retain mission-aligned talent. Ensure hiring practices reflect cultural humility and help build a diverse leadership pipeline.
  • Employee Engagement & Experience: Collaborate with teams across the organization to assess, support, and improve employee engagement, morale, and psychological safety. Ensure employee voice is incorporated into decision-making processes.
  • Policy Development & Compliance: Lead the creation and ongoing review of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws. Ensure policies are applied consistently and communicated transparently.
  • Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution: Serve as a strategic advisor on complex employee relations matters. Approach conflict resolution with fairness and empathy, preserving dignity while ensuring alignment with organizational standards.
  • Labor Relations & Union Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison with union leadership. Foster a collaborative labor-management relationship rooted in transparency, mutual respect, and timely communication. Support collective bargaining processes, contract interpretation, grievance handling, and implementation of union-related organizational policies.
  • Compensation & Benefits Strategy: Oversee the design, administration, and communication of equitable and competitive compensation and benefits programs. Ensure transparency and fairness in pay practices.
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB): Champion and operationalize DEIB principles across all people practices. Build structures and systems that support a respectful, inclusive, and representative workforce.
  • People Analytics & Reporting: Leverage HR data and insights to measure the effectiveness of people initiatives. Report key findings to the executive team and use data to drive strategic decisions.
  • Budget Oversight: Develop and manage the People & Culture budget, ensuring resources are allocated to maximize impact and support strategic priorities.

Qualifications: This role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate the complexities of managing HR across multiple locations while maintaining a focus on organizational goals and employee well-being. Cultural Leadership & Emotional Intelligence:

• Demonstrated ability to lead with empathy, cultural awareness, and humility in a diverse workplace.

• Proven success in building or maintaining strong organizational culture during periods of change or growth. Education:

• A Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree combined with extensive relevant experience may also be considered. Experience:

• 7+ years of HR management experience, with significant experience in a senior leadership role. Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in an FQHC, is highly desirable. Skills:

• Strong leadership and strategic planning skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and deep knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices. Proficiency with HRIS systems and data analytics is also required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly responsible for the supervision and development of one HR team member, ensuring effective delegation, ongoing skill development, and performance evaluation.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Benefits: Tapestry 360 Health offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, retirement savings plans, paid time off, and continuing education support. Tapestry 360 Health is committed to equitable and transparent pay practices. In accordance with the Illinois Pay Transparency Act, we are disclosing the full salary range for this position. This range represents the potential compensation for the role based on experience, tenure, and performance over time. Most new employees can expect an initial offer within the lower portion of the range, reflecting factors such as prior experience, internal equity, and organizational budget. Salary progression is evaluated regularly to support professional growth and retention.
