Presbyterian Homes is looking for a compassionate and spiritually grounded Chaplain Resident Intern to join our Spiritual Life team at Westminster Place in Evanston, Illinois.
This part-time, year-long internship offers a unique opportunity for those seeking hands-on ministry experience in a vibrant senior living community. Under the mentorship of experienced full-time chaplains, you’ll play a vital role in offering emotional and spiritual care across our levels of living.

What you’ll be doing:
Plan, lead, preach, and participate in a variety of worship services:
Sunday Vespers
Weekly devotionals
Services on healthcare floors
Seasonal and special liturgical services
Provide one-on-one spiritual support to residents in independent living, assisted living, and the health care center
Join weekly staff meetings with the Spiritual Life team to coordinate services and assignments
Attend resident councils, interdisciplinary care plan meetings, and other relevant forums
Facilitate or co-lead spiritual life programming, such as Bible studies, grief or caregiver support groups, and other enrichment opportunities
What you bring:
A Master’s degree (M.Div., M.A., M.A.T.S.) in progress or completed in a pastoral field
At least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) strongly preferred
A heart for older adults and a calling to minister across traditions and backgrounds
Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately, including public speaking and leading worship
Strong listening and relational skills; sensitivity to the spiritual and emotional needs of residents and their families
Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
