Senior AS400 iSeries COBOL Developer
Our client is seeking a Senior AS400/iSeries COBOL Developer to support and enhance mission‑critical mid‑range applications. This role requires deep hands‑on experience with COBOL/400, ILE, CLLE, SQL, and DB2400, along with strong knowledge of ACMS/MOM. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working in complex legacy environments and can lead development efforts in an onshore/offshore model.

Location: Onsite (Only local candidates will be considered)
Requirements:
- Lead and mentor team members in an onshore/offshore delivery model.
- Optimize and fine‑tune existing applications for performance and reliability.
- Support the development of technical roadmaps and modernization initiatives.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with stakeholders for requirement clarification and solution discussions.
- Analyze functional and technical requirements and translate them into robust solutions.
- Perform hands‑on development using COBOL/400, COBOL ILE, CLLE, SQL, and related AS400/iSeries technologies.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to refine requirements and propose solutions.
Qualifications/Must-Haves:
- Experience working with ACMS/MOM.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in enterprise‑scale environments.
- 10+ years of hands‑on development experience with AS400/iSeries.
- Strong proficiency in: COBOL/400, COBOL ILE, CLLE, SQL, DB2400.
- Ability to lead development efforts and guide junior team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Background in large enterprise IT environments.
- Experience leading teams in an onshore/offshore model.
Work Environment:
- Full onsite schedule in Schaumburg, IL.
- Collaborative team environment with continuous integration and improvement focus.
- Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance; relocation is not supported.
