Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: CVICU/Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: ASN Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, and technology. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs. Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and initiates appropriate solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Provides direct care of CVICU patients (Post-op day CABG, Vascular, and ICU status patients). Maintains a clean and tidy work environment. Maintains hospital and unit-based competencies. Performs hourly rounding on patients. Proactively seeks out opportunities to assist internal and external customers.
