Laker Mascot Talent

Laker Mascot Talent Location Mattoon, IL :

This position will represent the college as the Laker Louie mascot at campus events area high school activities and community-wide engagements. The mascot talent will execute all duties required by the appearance. The talent will be responsible for giving the mascot life and personality while at all times maintaining the college's highest standards. Duties include walking in parades attending athletic events inspiring Laker Pride engaging crowds in spirit and cheering waving shaking hands posing for photos and other appropriate actions. Some performance is required such as physical antics skits interactions or participation in local fairs and festivals and other events.

Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

Essential Job Functions:

• Promote the college's spirit through appearances at campus and community events throughout the Lake Land College district and other events as necessary.
• Collaborate with college staff and community members to create materials routines and other information for high school activities community events and engagements.
• Distribute college promotional items designed to help increase college awareness throughout the community.
• Personally interact with people one-on-one and within a crowd.
• Interact with community members on a one on one basis or within a large crowd.
• Attend events throughout the year including outside the semesters and summer if applicable.Nights and weekends required.
• Maintain and transport mascot costume.
• Prepare and submit feedback for each event.
• Attend high school outreach events and interact with high school students in an appropriate manner.
• Represent the college with respect and integrity according to the Lake Land vision and values at all times.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Outreach.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.

Experience Requirements: No previous work experience required, but acting or mascot talent experience preferred. Knowledge: Must have knowledge of and commitment to Lake Land College.Strong communication skills.Excellent skills in interacting with others and an understanding of public relations goals and practices. Skills: Personal Requirements: Ability to work independently;ability to follow directions,rules and guidelines;reliability and dependability;courageous;ability to maintain confidentiality,and display respect and integrity at all times.Outgoing personality must shine through when in costume.
