Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior BAS Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex building automation system (BAS) projects. The role requires deep technical knowledge of controls and PLCs, proven project management experience, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams to meet schedule, budget, and performance goals. The Senior BAS Project Manager will be responsible for project strategy, client communication, technical oversight, risk mitigation, and ensuring systems meet operational and energy efficiency objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of BAS projects, including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, installation, commissioning, and closeout.
- Serve as primary client and stakeholder contact, providing regular project updates, managing expectations, and resolving issues promptly.
- Provide technical oversight for controls and PLC programming activities, reviewing design documents, control sequences, and system integration plans.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and internal engineering teams to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, resource plans, and cost controls; proactively identify and mitigate risks and variances.
- Oversee commissioning, functional testing, and system verification to ensure BAS performance meets design intent and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and quality standards on project sites and during system installation and testing.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, as-built drawings, handover packages, and O&M manuals for client acceptance.
- Support business development and pre-sales activities by providing technical input to proposals, scopes of work, and project estimates.
- Mentor junior project managers and technical staff, fostering best practices in project management and controls engineering.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience managing BAS or controls projects, with a track record of successfully delivering medium to large-scale building automation installations.
- Strong technical background in BAS platforms, building automation systems, DDC controls, and PLC programming/debugging.
- Hands-on experience with controls integration, field devices, sensors, HVAC systems, and networked control architectures (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, etc.).
- Demonstrated project management skills including schedule development, cost control, risk management, contract administration, and client communication.
- PMP, PMI-ACP, or similar project management certification preferred.
- Proficiency with project management and controls tools (MS Project, Primavera, AutoCAD, BAS programming tools, and commissioning software).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong leadership abilities, and experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required and ability to work in field and office environments.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in BAS design and delivery.
