Job Summary

The Manager, Market Analytics is responsible for leading data-driven insights and optimizing market participation strategies. This role will play a critical part in analyzing electricity markets, forecasting prices, and enhancing trading strategies for battery storage projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in power markets, data modeling, and machine learning techniques to drive decision-making and maximize value in energy trading.

The Manager, Market Analytics will report to the Vice President, Commercial Analytics.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related technical field
• Five to ten years of experience in energy market analysis, trading strategy development, or energy sector analytics
• Proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages for data analytics
• Strong background in machine learning and optimization models

Skills & Competencies

• Experience with PostgreSQL or other database management systems
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms like AWS is a plus
• Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex market insights
• Ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment and adapt to evolving market conditions

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine price forecasting models using machine learning and statistical techniques to improve accuracy
• Analyze electricity markets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that impact energy trading strategies
• Optimize market participation strategies by leveraging data-driven insights and working closely with Asset Management teams
• Utilize optimization models to forecast market behavior and inform trading decisions
• Monitor and assess policy and regulatory changes to anticipate market shifts and adjust strategies accordingly
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, trading teams, and analytics groups to support strategic decision-making
• Present data-driven insights and recommendations to senior leadership to enhance profitability and efficiency

Work Conditions

The Manager, Market Analytics will be based in Chicago, IL and may work in a hybrid arrangement with a combination of in-office and remote work.
