Machine Builder / Field Service Technician

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
Schedule: 1st Shift

We are seeking a skilled Machine Builder / Field Service Technician to join a well-established industrial machinery manufacturer. This role offers a strong mix of hands-on machine building with a gradual transition into field service work , including domestic and limited international travel (about one week per month after training).

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a recently renovated facility, learn from experienced leaders, and grow into a technical role with long-term stability.

What You’ll Do

• Assemble and build custom industrial machinery, including mechanical and electrical components
• Wire control panels and troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480V
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
• Assist with spare parts production and machine testing
• Provide technical support to customers on-site and over the phone
• Travel domestically and internationally after training to support field service, installation, and troubleshooting

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience building industrial equipment
• Strong electrical and mechanical skills (electrical focus is critical)
• Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems up to 480V
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills, including customer support over the phone
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally after training
• Ability to work onsite in Elk Grove Village, IL

Nice to Have

• Prior field service experience (1+ year)
• Technical degree or trade school certification
• Experience with custom machinery or OEM environments
