Law librarian cook law library
Provides legal reference assistance to lawyers, judges, self-represented litigants, and the public. Assists Law Library Administration in enforcing library policies and procedures. Provides research instruction and database training for library users and staff. Prepares and maintains print and web-based research guides for library users. Facilitates and promotes the use of special collections within the library. Develops content for the Law Library website. Contributes to collection development for print and electronic resources. Participates in Law Library outreach for internal and external audiences. Produces relevant marketing materials including newsletters and library displays. Occasionally assist in other library service areas or at the five branches. This position is ON-SITE.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a college or university with a Master’s Degree in Library Science or Information Science accredited by the American Library Association -AND-- Two (2) years of experience providing reference services in a library setting is required.
- Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance is required.
This position is considered a safety-sensitive position. Candidates who are selected to fill safety-sensitive positions must pass a required drug test as part of the pre-employment background check process.

- Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
- Knowledge of basic and advanced legal research sources and techniques using print and electronic sources with the understanding of library operations and practices, trends, Integrated Library Systems, and emerging technologies.
- Knowledge of print and electronic government documents including Federal, State, and local documents and the ability to identify and locate such documents.
- Knowledge of print and electronic foreign and international legal resources, and the ability to utilize online catalog and circulation ILS modules.
- Skill utilizing technologies and electronic communication including Microsoft Office operating systems with the ability to train other Law Library staff on effective use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skill utilizing Lexis Advance, Westlaw, Hein Online, and other web-based research tools and the ability to identify and draft website edits.
- Skill planning and teaching classes on legal research or law-related topics and developing and creating legal research guides.
Ability to work independently and function in a collegial, team-oriented environment, which emphasizes customer service and delivery of exemplary library services.
Ability to work with diverse library users of varying levels of skill and understanding while possessing interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to travel to various work locations throughout the county.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

Hourly Wage: $38.842
