Organization Overview:

Foresight Bank is the largest, locally owned community bank in Northern Illinois, with fifteen offices in the counties of Winnebago, Stephenson and Kankakee. Foresight Bank is owned by Foresight Financial Group, Inc., an Illinois corporation founded in 1986, a financial holding company established under the Federal Reserve.

Position Summary:

Under the mentorship of more senior Commercial Bankers, the Commercial Banker I is responsible for the relationship management of an existing and growing commercial loan and deposit portfolio that will provide maximum profitability to the bank while adhering to the bank’s risk tolerance. This high customer contact position requires the ability to initiate and develop prospective and current client relationships through a proactive and professional sales approach. In addition, this position will assist with the underwriting process of simple to intermediate credits across the portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Applies product and service knowledge to effectively meet customer and/or prospect banking needs.
  2. Solicits and develops new loan and deposit business to meet or exceed annual production goals.
  3. Collects and analyzes financial data of simple to intermediate customers and/or prospects to determine credit worthiness and develop an appropriate loan structure.
  4. Determines approval or rejection of loan applications in accordance with bank policy and communicate same to applicant.
  5. Negotiates terms including costs, collateral requirements, repayment methods and rates to successfully obtain new business and retain existing customers.
  6. Monitors loan repayment and assist in collection or coordination of payments to minimize delinquency and meet bank standards.
  7. Conducts periodic customer meetings to enhance customer retention and assist with the annual review process.
  8. Maintains professional communication and conduct with all clients, prospects and associates.
  9. Cross sells additional bank services, making recommendations for customer consideration and referring leads to Consumer, Investment, and Mortgage teams.
  10. Uses all available resources to provide value-added advice and/or recommendations for the potential improvement of customer’s business operations, productivity, etc., as appropriate.
  11. Meets and/or exceeds all individual sales goals, while assisting Commercial Services Team in accomplishing its Strategic Business Plan and Budget.
  12. Actively participates in community organizations and events to increase the bank’s visibility and image in order to build a solid referral network.
  13. Maintains and promotes a superior level of professional customer service and Team Member relations at all times. Proactively provides solutions and resolves customer concerns and requests.
  14. Participates in professional organizations to enhance further personal development.
  15. Undertake special projects and/or assignments as needed.
  16. Maintain compliance with and adhere to all state and federal regulations and bank policies and procedures, including, but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, FACT ACT, Community Reinvestment Act, and EEO/AA/Fair Employment Practices.

Technical: Beginning knowledge of credit analysis. Must have a strong working knowledge and experience in commercial banking products. Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements required. A self-user and promoter of technology. PC and Microsoft Office Product proficiency.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s Degree in related business field and 0-5 years of experience in a Commercial Banking role; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Most possess valid driver’s license, reliable transportation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the Team Member is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
