VP, Business Development - Construction
The Vice President, Business Development is responsible for driving national level construction growth in
mission-critical, technically complex sectors including Defense, Aerospace, Energy Storage, Data Center,
Advanced Manufacturing, and Lab or R&D.
This role differs from traditional local BD positions, requiring an established national network of corporate
occupiers, program leaders, industry connectors, and ecosystem partners. The Vice President will
position KIRCO MANIX as a preferred partner for navigating high-risk, high-complexity construction
programs.
This leader owns the identification, cultivation, and conversion of major opportunities; shapes high-value
pursuit strategies; guides firm-wide go/no-go decisions; and ensures strong competitive positioning across
target markets.
The role works closely with senior leadership, including the EVP Corporate Real Estate, VP
Corporate Real Estate, and Director of Marketing; Brand Strategy, to expand KIRCO MANIX’s national
footprint and generate durable, dependable annual backlog.
Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
Lead national business development across mission-critical sectors.
Leverage a robust national network to originate new project opportunities.
Shape long-term growth strategy while adapting to market dynamics.
National Pursuit Leadership
Serve as the strategic lead for major pursuits.
Drive disciplined go/no-go decision-making.
Partner with Marketing and Preconstruction on proposals and presentations.
Client Relationship Development
Build and sustain relationships with senior decision-makers and program leaders to drive repeat pipeline work.
Identify and represent KIRCO MANIX at strategic industry events and conferences.
Support client satisfaction, retention, and account growth initiatives.
Internal Leadership and Collaboration
Strategically integrate with Preconstruction leadership on every pursuit to shape winning delivery strategies, manage risk early, and align scope, schedule, and pricing with client objectives.
Develop, mentor, and activate regional BD leaders and seller-doers, ensuring consistent pursuit discipline, knowledge sharing, and accountability across the organization.
Partner with Marketing and Brand Strategy to align sector-specific messaging, thought leadership, and visibility with target client priorities and long-term growth objectives.
Qualifications
10–20+ years of progressive business development leadership in mission-critical markets.
Demonstrated national network and proven ability to secure $10M–$500M+ programs.
Executive presence and credibility with senior decision-makers.
Deep understanding of complex industrial construction, delivery, and procurement.
Willingness and ability to travel nationally (approximately 60%) to support client engagement, pursuits, and relationship development.
