Senior Staff Accountant

General Summary: The Staff Accountant or Senior Staff Accountant is a tactical and strategic role responsible for supporting the Storck North American subsidiaries’ (U.S. and Canada) with best-in-class accounting standards and execution. Scope of responsibilities includes accurate and on-time maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable processing, month and year-end close process, enforcement of organizational internal controls, and audit and tax support.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable
- Handle all incoming inquiries related to accounts payable for marketing and SG&A expenses.
- Specific tasks include establishing purchase orders, coding and approving invoices and working together with Corporate to ensure timely payment.
Annual & Month End Close
- Assist with all necessary close procedures including reviewing General Leder postings, providing relevant financial statement variance analytics, reconciling applicable balance sheet accounts, and assisting with onsite physical inventory counts.
Audit Support
- Serve as primary contact with Internal and External auditors. This includes providing Prepared by Client documents and leading the resolution of any follow up questions.
Federal & State Tax Support
- Serve as primary contact with third party Tax Consultants.
- This includes providing Prepared by Client documents, leading resolution of follow up questions, and formally filing and paying relevant tax obligations.
Corporate Liaison
- Ownership of communication with German colleagues (English used) in Central Accounting department.
- This includes day-to-day coordination of tasks as well as working to improve organizational internal controls.
Other
- Other duties include, but are not limited to: supporting corporate travel accounting, completing licensing and other governmental filings, support preparation of annual plan and forecast.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 1-4 years prior experience in an accounting role
- Strong grasp of generally accepted accounting principles and concepts
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Tax and audit experience a plus
- Team player with a positive attitude towards contributing and learning
- Intermediate or better knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience using SAP is preferred
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or CPA
- 1-4 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions: Hybrid Work Model, including Monday and Friday Work from Home, and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in normal working conditions for an office environment in downtown Chicago, IL.
Travel: Approximately 10%, which could International Travel.
Other Qualification, Safety Procedures: Must be willing to follow and comply with communicated Company, Travel, and Retailer safety procedures, which may include COVID-19 testing or following other safety procedures in order to attend meetings, travel domestically or internationally, comply with Retail Partner safety procedures, and/or follow other workplace health and safety requirements to fulfil job duties.

What We Offer: The salary range for this position is USD $75,000-$90,000 annually at the time of this posting. Pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to position offered, education, skills, work experience, and other factors permitted by law. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This position is also eligible for bonus pay.
