POSITION SUMMARYThe Department of Nursing in the School of Education and Health Sciences seeks an innovative, collaborative, and student-focused candidate for a 12-month, full-time open rank professor Nursing position. This role supports pre-licensure and post-MSN licensure programs, including Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Practitioner (PMHNP), Nurse Educator, and Nurse Executive Leadership, ensuring excellence in graduate nursing education and alignment with the AACN Essentials and CCNE accreditation standards. The successful candidate will have leadership experience and possess exceptional leadership skills. They will contribute to didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction; curriculum development; accreditation support; and student mentorship. Faculty teaching responsibilities align with faculty expertise and program needs, including pre-licensure MSN, MSN core courses, and advanced practice content. Additional responsibilities include fostering interprofessional education, maintaining accreditation documentation, and cultivating strong clinical partnerships. Scholarly engagement in social determinants of health, health informatics, health equity, or the scholarship of nursing education is of particular interest. This position is responsible for teaching 20 credits over 12 months within the Graduate Nursing Department. DESCRIPTION OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Note that all functions described below must be performed, and it is usually the responsibility of the individual in this position to perform them or ensure they are performed.
- Teach didactic and clinical graduate nursing courses in pre-licensure and MSN programs, using evidence-based strategies and technology-enhanced learning platforms, such as Canvas.
- Follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established and approved by the Graduate Nursing Curriculum Committee and the Nursing Department Faculty.
- Develop, revise, and implement didactic and clinical curricula consistent with AACN Essentials, CCNE standards, and the NONPF standards applicable to the FNP program.
- Provide clinical oversight, including site recruitment and approval, preceptor oversight in collaboration with the NP Program Director and the Nursing Department Clinical Coordinator
- Enact best practices in nursing education.
- Model critical and reflective thinking and foster the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective development of learners.
- Be available by appointment for academic advising and student consultation.
- Provide timely, constructive, and thoughtful feedback to learners.
- Use information from course evaluations in planning instruction and improving the process.
- Demonstrate professional and educational values and legal/ethical precepts in interactions.
- Exhibit a spirit of inquiry about teaching and learning, student development, evaluation methods, and other aspects of the role.
- Use current research findings and scholarly works in nursing to improve nursing education and practice
- Perform other leadership duties as requested by the Nursing Department Chair, the Dean of SEHS, the NC Provost, or the NC President.
- Maintain clinical certification and licensure.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS Education
- Earned or in progress doctoral degree in nursing or a closely related field (PhD, DNP, DNSc, EdD) preferred or in progress.
- Master's degree in nursing from an accredited program.
- Active, unencumbered Illinois RN license.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) required or obtained within one year of hire.
- APRN certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner preferred.
- Minimum of two years in graduate nursing and/or NP education. Experience in Advanced Pharmacology, Advanced Health Assessment, and Advanced Pathophysiology preferred.
- Prior leadership experience with a higher education focus preferred.
- Experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes preferred.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
