• Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Travel Nurse
• Location: Springfield, IL 62781 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Facility Type: Magnet-designated Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing
• Start Date: September 22, 2025
• End Date: December 22, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 5x8-hour day shifts (06:45 – 15:15)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend shift per month
• On-Call: Approximately 1 per week (frequency may vary)
• Scrub Color: Provided
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Parking: Free parking permit provided
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2450 - $2510

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or in application process (required for Illinois nursing jobs)
• Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room RN experience (Level I trauma experience required)
• General OR and trauma nursing experience required
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross only)
• CNOR and CST certifications preferred
• Travel nursing experience required
• Must live at least 50 miles from facility to apply
• First-time travelers not accepted
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

OR RN Responsibilities

• Deliver perioperative nursing care for surgical specialties: general surgery, trauma, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, and emergency management
• Assist with complex surgical cases: laparoscopic procedures, craniotomies, cervical/lumbar fusions, joint replacements, organ donation, and trauma cases (amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, MVA)
• Operate and maintain specialized surgical equipment (electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana tables)
• Demonstrate expertise in specimen handling, infection control, radiation safety, and universal protocol procedures
• Respond to emergency codes and participate in fire safety and latex allergy protocols
• Float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed, within skill set
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response)
• Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
