CNC and Fabrication Equipment Operator

Step into a second-shift role where precision meets production

Join O’Neal Steel in Peru, IL and own the process of setting up, programming, and running production equipment to deliver high-quality metal products. You’ll work from simple blueprints, use computer-controlled interfaces to select, position, and secure parts, and fine-tune machine parameters to meet exact specs—on time, every time.

A day in your second shift (3:00PM–11:00PM, Mon–Fri)

• Start by reviewing work orders and simple blueprints, then stage materials.
• Use CNC controls to select, position, and secure semi-automatic or automatic machines.
• Run and adjust equipment such as saws, shears, press brakes, rollers, plasma and laser machines to meet customer specifications.
• Move material efficiently with forklifts, overhead and stacker cranes, side loaders, or yard dogs.
• Verify accuracy with a tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer; convert fractions and decimals as needed.
• Deliver consistent, high-quality output that supports both internal teams and external customers.

Overtime may be required as business needs arise.

Your toolkit

• Hands-on experience with a range of processing machinery: saw, shear, press brake, roller, plasma, and laser.
• Comfort operating material handling equipment: forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, and yard dog.
• Ability to interpret simple blueprints and translate them into machine setups.
• Proficiency with measuring tools (tape, box and slide dial calipers, micrometer) and converting fractions/decimals.
