AECOM Hunt has an exciting opportunity on our internal Construction Quality Control team for a Building/Construction Quality Control Manager to support our highly complex project in Chicago, IL. 

As a Construction Building Quality Manager, you are an experienced quality professional with a strong background in quality management, especially in building envelopes, life safety, flooring building codes, and construction principles. The Construction Building Quality Manager directly interacts with owners, Architects, Engineers, construction teams and trades people from preconstruction to project closeout providing suggestions and recommendations, as a quality resource to the project team. You are committed to creating a culture of continuous improvement in your work and professional development; and will receive prioritized training and mentoring by the QA/QC Vice President, Directors and other Quality Managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with project teams and trade contractors to develop and implement job specific quality plans, providing design review feedback on constructability, sequencing and industry best practice procedures
  • Conduct regular field reviews, document findings and guide corrective action. Serve as a quality liaison between project team and trade contractors, facilitating coordination and consistency across quality control activities
  • Lead various quality management processes including pre-installation meetings, first work in place and daily inspections, providing a strong background in construction quality and mechanical systems. Promote clear communication and collaborative problem-solving with internal and external relationships to influence outcomes, resolving issues while driving a culture of quality and accountability.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by mentoring teams, sharing technical knowledge while modeling best practices by staying current on industry trends and promote professional development to elevate quality standards across all phases of a project.

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or similar curriculum and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience. 
  • Valid Drivers' License to access client property and travel to various property site locations.

Physical Demands:

  • The following physical demands represent those typically required of individuals working in construction field roles, with or without accommodation. Construction field positions require physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to climb ladders and stairs, use personnel hoists, and move through various terrain and active construction zones. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Team members must be capable of using their hands to handle tools and materials, and perform activities such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. 

Work Environment:

  • Individuals in construction field roles work primarily on active job sites where exposure to environmental and job-related hazards is common, with or without accommodation. These environments may include proximity to heavy machinery, elevated work areas, airborne particles, varying weather conditions, and potential electrical risks. Noise levels may vary from moderate to high depending on the phase of construction. Employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and must remain alert to ensure safety. Additional duties may be assigned as needed based on the scope and progress of the project.

Qualifications

:

  • 6 years of experience in architecture, engineering, construction quality, management and/or building commissioning.
  • BS in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Communication : Excellent written and verbal communicator; an active listener who can deliver clear and concise messages.
  • Problem Solving: identifies and resolves problems promptly, develops alternative solutions, and works well in group problem-solving situations. Applies reason.
  • Critical/Strategic Thinking: able to learn to provide a practical understanding of why things go wrong in the design and construction phases and the ability to direct the project team as needed.
  • Collaboration: Ability to build and maintain both internal and external relationships including Construction Team members and Tradespeople and others.
  • Adaptability: Able to research, learn quickly, and communicate that knowledge with team members, stakeholders and other project related individuals. 
  • Technology : Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar software
  • Preferred Certifications : Registered Roof Observer (RRO), Registered Exterior Wall Observer (REWO) or similar, CQM-C (USACE) or similar certifications are desirable.

  • For positions with driving responsibilities, Motor Vehicle Records are reviewed as part of AECOM’s background check process to ensure compliance with the Company’s driving standards.
  • In order to receive a security badge at the client worksite to enable access to secure portions of the facility for which you are being hired to perform services, you may be required to pass the client's security screening process, which will include, but may not be limited to, Homeland Security background check and fingerprinting. Should this be required it will be done after you have commenced employment, and your participation in that process and a pass rating by the client are both conditions of your continued employment by AECOM.
