Description

Position Overview

The Creative Services & Branding Intern will help architect and produce richly designed responsive/fluid web sites, landing pages, and emails, using the latest web technologies. As an intern, you will work closely with user experience, visual design, and development team members to solve problems and innovate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work from design comps and prototypes to produce rich experiences -- including external web sites, internal sites on the Intranet, and emails.
  • Collaborate with designers to do the same using Lean techniques.
  • Develop clean custom coded solutions as well as reuse existing modules and code.
  • Cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure consistent display in major supported browsers on Mac, PC, iOS and Android.
  • Implement content and code updates for ongoing projects
  • Collaborate during design stage of projects to come up with innovative and engaging experiences for users.
  • Participate in design workshops and design sprints.
  • Create proof of concepts and showcase new techniques.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to work within established timelines and budgets, and strategize work flow.
  • Provide estimates for work.This internship is solely designed to provide you with skill development and valuable work experience. This role may not convert to a position at United at the conclusion of the internship.


Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Must be a current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Computer Science or related
  • Working knowledge of HTML5 (semantic), CSS2/3, LESS/SASS, JavaScript
  • Working knowledge of front-end frameworks such as Bootstrap, Materialize or similar
  • Knowledge of responsive web design patterns
  • Fast coder, learner with excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Innovative, forward-thinking
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Autonomous
  • High standards and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills (interpersonal and written skills)
  • Ability to adapt to fast pace and changes
  • Position is based in Chicago, IL – must be able to relocate for the duration of the internship
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now and in the future
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position


The starting rate for this role is $20.00.

The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education and skills. This position may also be eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
