ICU Nursing Job Details

• Location: Chicago, IL 60612 – Explore Chicago nursing jobs in the heart of the Windy City, known for its world-class museums, diverse neighborhoods, and scenic lakefront parks.
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Healthcare Setting: Level 1 Trauma Center ICU
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• End Date: December 2, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), every other weekend required
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910-$1960
• Orientation: First week on day shift (orientation + precepting)
• Floating: Mandatory float between Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, and Med-Surg units
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue (not provided)
• Parking: $2/day at JTDC with shuttle service every 15 minutes

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in an ICU setting
• Active Illinois RN license (required at time of submission)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• COVID-19 vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Ability to float between ICU and Med-Surg units as needed
• Must be responsive and able to meet compliance deadlines
• Travel and local candidates accepted; locals preferred (must live within 75 miles for local rate)

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill patients in various ICU specialties
• Manage and monitor arterial lines, central lines, ventilators, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias, manage multi-system organ failure, and administer continuous IV sedation
• Implement isolation precautions and utilize PPE as required
• Document patient care using Cerner electronic medical records
• Float to assigned ICU and Med-Surg units to support facility needs
• Participate in team-based care models when floated outside primary competency
• Comply with all facility policies regarding scheduling, time off, and compliance
