Summary/Objective

The fabrication supervisor must lead and manage the direct and indirect operations of the assigned functional area as well as plan and coordinate processes and key resources to meet delivery requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all employees are following safety guidelines and safety training methods, working in a safe manner, and have all safety equipment necessary to perform tasks assigned to them
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments and/or locations
  • Implement, maintain and continuously improve ERP control processes including department scheduling, MES data collection for job operations, reoccurring reports / dashboards related to production.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers
  • Inspect job travelers before starting job to ensure routing steps are correct
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers
  • Keep records of employees' attendance and hours worked as well as monitoring time clocks and punches
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, job travelers production schedules, engineer change requests and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
  • Create and maintain a clean and organized shop and work areas
  • Attend and conduct presentations of various information in daily, weekly and monthly departmental meetings
  • Attends and conducts presentations of various information in daily, weekly and monthly cross-departmental meetings
  • Create and maintain Daily, Weekly, Monthly Duties and Responsibility Matrix with departmental supervisors, leads and key office personnel under Production.
  • Oversee and seek approval for planned overtime hours
  • Oversee and approve weekly job completion functions
  • Create and maintain KPI's for the production department

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience
    • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
    • 5 years production manufacturing experience, preferably in a metal fabrication industry
    • Supervisor experience preferred
  • Technology
    • Windows PC proficiency
    • Microsoft Office proficiency
    • ERP/SAP experience preferred
