Travel Surgical Tech Job Details

• Location: Urbana, Illinois 61801 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Facility Setting: Hospital – Operating Room (CVOR)
• Employment Type: Travel Surgical Technologist (locum tenens)
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• End Date: November 29, 2025
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (10-hour shifts)
• On-Call: 1–2 shifts per week, plus 1–2 weekends (Friday 5pm – Monday 7am) per 4-week period; holiday call may include a 24-hour shift
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1870–$1920 per week

Surgical Technologist Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent Surgical Tech experience in a hospital or clinical setting
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or Certificate from an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• IDPH Fingerprinting required for Illinois healthcare jobs
• Proficient in independently scrubbing basic surgical procedures
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology
• Familiarity with electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers in surgical care

Surgical Tech Responsibilities

• Maintain a sterile environment by applying principles of asepsis during surgical set-up and procedures
• Demonstrate technical and psychomotor skills, sound judgment, and a solid knowledge base
• Organize and coordinate surgical supplies and equipment for efficient OR operations
• Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and self in the operating room
• Participate in room turnover, set-up, and cleaning of surgical equipment
• Perform sterilization and disinfection of surgical instruments and document per hospital policy
• Assist with obtaining supplies, equipment, positioning devices, and help position patients for surgery
• Charge for equipment and supplies as needed
• Support educational activities for medical students, residents, and other learners in the OR
• Demonstrate effective perioperative teamwork and patient care concepts
