Labor and Delivery RN Job Details

• Job Title: Travel Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift
• Location: Mount Vernon, IL 62864 (Southern Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Employment Type: Travel contract
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital Labor & Delivery Unit
• Shift: Night shift: 3x8-Hour (23:00 - 07:00) preferred. 3x12s or 4x12s also accepted.
• Hours per Week: 36–40
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (October 6, 2025 – January 5, 2026)
• Weekend Coverage: May be required
• No call requirements
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2250–$2310
• Local Candidate Policy: Candidates residing within 70 miles of Mount Vernon, IL are considered locals and are not eligible for this travel contract.
• Compliance: OSHA Respirator Clearance and FIT testing required prior to start. Travelers must be clean shaven for FIT testing.

Labor and Delivery RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Preferred: Experience with Epic charting, previous hospital L&D experience
• COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Ability to float between Women’s Health departments as needed

Labor and Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum phases
• Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs and respond to changes in patient status
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and high-risk births
• Administer medications and IV fluids as ordered
• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postpartum care
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR (preferred)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, anesthesia, and neonatal staff
• Float as needed between Labor & Delivery and related units
• Required to work 1 Friday, 1 Saturday, and 1 Sunday shift on every 4-week schedule.
