About Us: Nic + Junior’s is a chef-driven Tavern rooted in elegance, hospitality, and story. Founded by seasoned restaurant professionals, our lead chef was nominated as a semi-finalist by the James Beard Foundation as Outstanding Chef and our executive team has a deep understanding of hospitality and professionalism in food service. We are in the heart of downtown Chicago in a small format, beautiful space nestled between Michigan Avenue and the Trump Hotel. We offer everything from fresh raw bar seafood, to prime steaks and an amazing cocktail driven bar.

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced operator who blends refined hospitality with disciplined execution. Someone with sharp operational skills, warmly hospitality to the guest, and extremely professional. Our General Manager leads from the floor, setting the tone for an excellent guest experience that feels both elevated and approachable -- anticipating needs, resolving issues in real time, and ensuring every touchpoint reflects the restaurant's high standards.

Job Responsibilities:

• Direct the flow of service and ensure complete guest satisfaction in the dining room.
• Hire, train, supervise, and develop all staff, especially FOH.
• Engage and speak credibly with guests and partner effectively with kitchen.
• Manage operations with efficiency and excellence in labor, COGS, and inventory with precision.
• Ensure all staff are adequately trained to our level of guest service, hospitality, and food knowledge.
• Supervise floor staff to maintain high guest satisfaction.
• Build rapport with guests to ensure a memorable dining experience.
• Oversee payroll reporting, end-of-night closeout, and cash handling.
• Maintain clear communication with the bookkeeper for accurate financial reporting.
• Manage and update the POS system with accurate menu items and pricing.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a white tablecloth restaurant fine-dining restaurant of similar capacity.
• Strong passion for fine dining with solid food and beverage knowledge (wine preferred)
• Well-spoken, hospitable demeanor with impeccable service standards and attention to detail.
• Proven leadership skills with a lead-by-example approach.
• Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment while maintaining composure.
• Professional and polished appearance with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong financial acumen with P&L understanding.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible work schedule availability.
• Proficiency in typical restaurant management software or ability to quickly learn.
