• Facility Setting: Hospital Operating Room (OR)
• Position Type: Travel Surgical Technologist (Locum Tenens)
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 27, 2025
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: Day shift, 11am–11pm (10-hour days)
• On Call: 4–5 shifts per 4-week period (includes weekends and weekdays)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,750–$1,790 per week

Surgical Technologist Qualifications

• At least 1 year of recent experience as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Tech
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology OR completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• IDPH Fingerprinting required
• Proficient in independently scrubbing basic surgical procedures
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology
• Familiarity with electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers in a surgical environment

Surgical Tech Responsibilities

• Maintain a sterile environment by applying principles of asepsis during all surgical procedures
• Demonstrate technical and psychomotor skills, sound judgment, and a strong knowledge base
• Deliver age-specific care to obstetrical patients according to department protocols
• Organize and coordinate surgical supplies and equipment for efficient OR operations
• Ensure safety for patients, colleagues, and self at all times
• Participate in room turnover and surgical procedure set-up
• Clean and maintain equipment, identify items needing repair, and perform sterilization/disinfection per hospital policy
• Assist with obtaining supplies, equipment, and positioning devices; help position patients for surgery
• Perform scrubbing duties and provide instruction to medical students, residents, and other healthcare students
