• Facility Setting: Inpatient Acute Care – Intermediate Care Unit
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens – Travel Nursing Contract
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 8, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (rotating weekends and holidays)
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed hours
• Unit Size: 32 private patient rooms
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 3-4 patients per Registered Nurse
• Dress Code: Scrubs (any color)

PACU RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of recent PACU or acute care nursing experience
• ACLS (AHA) certification – Required
• BLS (AHA) certification – Required
• NIHSS Certification – Required
• Ability to read telemetries and manage chest tubes
• Experience with EPIC EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems preferred
• Must pass a comprehensive drug screen (OSF is a drug-free campus)

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver post-anesthesia nursing care for patients with diverse medical conditions: respiratory, cardiac, neuro, and surgical cases
• Manage complex patient needs including COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, renal failure, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, and more
• Administer and monitor Bipap, Cpap, trachs, chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, ablation/cath lab patients, and dialysis
• Float to ICU or general medical floors as needed, based on experience and unit requirements
• Document patient care using EPIC EMR and ensure safe medication administration via Pyxis
• Participate in a comprehensive orientation program (1 day with education team, 1 day on the floor)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care
