Job Title: Transportation Coordinator
Location: Elmhurst, IL
Assignment Duration: 3 Months (with possible extension)
Pay Rate: $25/hour (W2)
Position Summary
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations to ensure the safe, timely, and professional delivery and pickup of surgical instruments. This role requires strong leadership, logistics coordination, and operational oversight to maintain service excellence and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily transportation schedules and coordinate routes to ensure on-time deliveries and pickups
Supervise Transportation Technicians, providing coaching, feedback, and performance support
Ensure compliance with transportation policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
Act as the primary point of contact for transportation-related operations
Resolve daily operational issues and escalate urgent concerns as needed
Ensure vehicles and transportation equipment are properly maintained, inspected, and operationally ready
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align transportation services with operational and client needs
Track logistics metrics and maintain accurate records related to routes, schedules, and performance
Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct supervision of Transportation Technicians
Travel Requirements
Occasional local travel
Daily operations conducted primarily on-site
Working Conditions
Work performed in an active operations environment with exposure to traffic, varying weather conditions, and healthcare settings
Combination of office, warehouse, and field-based coordination
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in transportation, logistics, or operational coordination
At least one (1) year of team leadership or supervisory experience
Proven experience leading teams in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities effectively
Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail, particularly in scheduling, safety, and documentation
Proficiency with GPS and route planning tools; comfort using technology-driven scheduling systems
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess issues and implement timely solutions
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience in healthcare logistics or sterile processing environments
Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Preferred Education
Coursework in logistics
Degree in operations, business, or a related field
Required Certifications & Licensure
Valid driver’s license
Clean driving record (MVR)
