Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher
26/27 School Year | $50-60/hour | Full-Time | Hampshire, IL | School-Based | Teacher of Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing PEL
About the Role:
As a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) with Point Quest Group, you‘ll play a critical role in supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing to access their education and thrive in a school setting. From individualized instruction and language development to IEP collaboration and advocacy, you’ll be a trusted partner to students, families, and school teams. What You‘ll Do:
· Provide specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, focusing on language development, communication skills, and academic achievement
· Conduct assessments of auditory skills, language proficiency, and academic performance; use data to inform instruction and supports
· Develop and implement IEPs and 504 plans aligned with student needs; lead or participate in IEP meetings with families and multidisciplinary teams
· Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum, provide accommodations, and ensure accessible instruction
· Support use of assistive technology (e.g., FM systems, hearing aids, cochlear implants) and teach students to effectively utilize these tools
· Provide consultation and training to staff on best practices for supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
· Maintain accurate, confidential records of services, progress, and compliance documentation
· Partner with families, interpreters, audiologists, and related service providers to support student success across environments
What We‘re Looking For:
Must Have
• Teacher of Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing PEL from ISBE
• Department of Justice/FBI Background Check (or equivalent state or national fingerprint clearance)
• Eligibility to work in the United States
Preferred
• Prior experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a K–12 setting
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities
• Knowledge of Deaf culture and bilingual-bicultural (Bi-Bi) educational approaches
• Experience with assistive listening devices and educational technology
