Service representative
PATIENT SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE

The Knox Community Health Center (KCHC) at the Knox County Health Department is hiring a Patient Services Representative (PSR) to be the first point of contact for patients seeking care. This is a crucial front-line role for someone who enjoys meaningful, fast-paced administrative work.
Job Summary:
As a PSR, you’ll welcome patients in-person and on the phone, handle appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and financial transactions, and maintain the accuracy of health records- all while contributing to a respectful, culturally competent care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and register patients professionally and courteously
- Prepare and maintain patient records and forms
- Collect demographic, insurance, and billing information accurately
- Verify insurance eligibility and update patient accounts
- Schedule appointments according to clinic policy
- Perform clerical duties such as copying, filing, faxing, and data entry
- Operate office equipment, phone systems, and health record systems efficiently
- Assist with occasional after-hours clinics
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with all HIPAA guidelines
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of related customer service or health care office experience preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong computer and data entry skills (40+ WPM)
- Detail-oriented with strong organization and time management
- Basic math and accounting knowledge
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, sit for extended periods, and work in a team-based environment
