Tooling Repair and Die Maintenance Machinist - Blueprint-Centric

Do you thrive on precision, love the feel of a perfect grind, and read blueprints like a second language? In Elk Grove Village, we’re adding a hands-on Tooling Repair and Die Maintenance Machinist who owns setups, solves problems, and keeps production humming.
Role at a Glance
- Run manual milling and grinding machines to build, maintain, and repair tools and dies.
- Turn engineering drawings and setup sheets into reliable, repeatable results.
- Measure, verify, and document quality with micrometers, calipers, and inspection tools.
- Diagnose tooling issues, implement fixes, and protect uptime and part quality.
- Collaborate with engineers and shop leads on process and tooling improvements.
- Champion shop safety, 5S, and accurate recordkeeping.
Must-Haves
- 3+ years of Tool and Die Maker experience on the shop floor.
- Proven manual milling and grinding skills, including independent setups.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings with confidence.
- Strong precision measurement and inspection capability.
- Detail orientation paired with practical problem-solving.
Preferred
- Tool/die design exposure; CAD/CAM familiarity a plus.
- Experience with metal stamping, forming, or die repair.
- Knowledge of ISO or AS9100D standards.
- CNC milling experience to complement manual work.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
