Technical Business Development Representative

This role is focused on generating qualified appointments and closing new business by engaging prospects through multiple channels—phone, LinkedIn, email, industry events, networking, and other direct messaging platforms. The position requires building rapport with potential clients, effectively qualifying opportunities, and driving them to close.

Responsibilities
  • • Lead Generation & Prospecting
    o Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities through high-volume outbound prospecting across multiple channels (phone, LinkedIn, email, industry events, networking, and direct messaging platforms).
    o Research organizations find new prospect targets and maintain a robust contact database for campaigns.
    o Focus lead generation and prospecting on Ascentient’s Target Client Profile.
     Primary Focus and Territory:Logistics (Supply Chain/3PL/Trucking/Brokerage/NVOCC/etc.),
     Secondary Focus: Healthcare
     Third Focus: Manufacturing, Aviation.
    • Prospect Engagement & Relationship Building
    o Initiate contact with potential clients to establish rapport and schedule meetings.
    o Schedule and follow up on discovery meetings with prospects, aiming for strong conversion rates from both team and in-person interactions.
    o Build and maintain a strong personal and professional network, including working with existing referral partner groups and expanding your own referral partner network.
    • Collaboration & Strategy
    o Collaborate with the sales, marketing, and leadership teams to develop and execute lead generation strategies.
    o Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events to network and represent the company, build your center of influence and generate business.
    • Sales Process & Record Keeping
    o Maintain accurate records for each prospect and lead using Sales CRM tool(s).
    o Develop new proposals and presentations tailored to client needs.
    • Performance & Reporting
    o Consistently achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas through effective prospecting, conversion and hitting Sales KPI’s and activities.
    o Attend weekly internal calls as required and prepare/present quarterly business plans to management.

Qualifications

  • • Sales Experience & Industry Knowledge
    o 3-5 Years in a new business generation driven role
    o Proven track record in a Sales/Hunter/BDR role, with a focus on generating Monthly Recurring Revenue.
    o Relevant experience in Managed Service Provider (MSP) environments, including sales, technical, operational, and/or client-facing roles.
    o Understanding of client and market dynamics in the primary focus industry. Understanding of one or more the other focus industries is not mandatory but preferred.
     Primary Focus: Logistics (Supply Chain/3PL/Trucking/Brokerage/NVOCC/etc.),
     Secondary Focus: Healthcare
     Third Focus: Manufacturing, and Aviation.
    o Thorough knowledge of how SMBs (up to 1,000 employees) search for, compare, purchase, and consume technology services.
    o Strong grasp of computer, cloud, and networking technologies, as well as current industry trends in technology.
    o Ability to communicate and sell the value of Managed Service Provider services, solutions, and functions.
    • Communication & Interpersonal Skills
    o Excellent organizational and presentation abilities.
    o Capable of conducting both technical and business conversations with prospects. Skilled in preparing written communications and materials.
    o High level of EQ with a focus on client service.
    o Outstanding written and verbal communication, as well as active listening skills.
    • Operational & Technical Skills
    o Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to changes.
    o Skilled at overcoming objections during the sales process.
    o Fast and accurate typing skills for efficient data entry.
    o Experience working with CRM systems.
    • Personal Attributes
    o Self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    o Independent thinker who takes initiative when appropriate.
    o Experience selling to business owners and C-level executives.
    o Willingness and ability to travel to consistently meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
