1:1 Paraeducator
Description:
Adler Park Elementary (K - 5) School has an opening for an elementary 1:1 Paraeducator for the 2026-2027 school year. The pay rate is $20.72 per hour (ELS PARA or SUB) or $21.84 per hour with a PEL. Benefits include: medical, dental and life insurance, 2 personal days, and 12 sick days.
Qualifications:
Must possess current and valid ISBE licensure with a PEL, SUB or ELS-(PARA) Paraeducator, and be registered in Lake County.
Behavioral Support:
- Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directed by the teacher or behavior specialist.
- Support students in managing their behavior, emotions, and social interactions in various settings (classroom, recess, etc.).
- Assist with de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention as needed.
- Monitor and document student behavior, tracking progress and reporting to the appropriate staff.
Classroom Support:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to reinforce learning.
- Assist in modifying instructional materials to meet the academic and behavioral needs of students.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support students with organizational tasks, following schedules, and completing assignments.
